Jan Borm est professeur des universités en littérature britannique à l’UVSQ depuis 2005. Né en 1964 à Kiel, Allemagne, il a terminé ses études secondaires au Royaume-Uni avant d'entreprendre des études d’anglais à l’université Paris 7 Denis-Diderot où il a soutenu sa thèse de doctorat dédiée à la littérature de voyage britannique contemporaine en 1997. Nommé maître de conférences à l’UVSQ en 1998, il a soutenu son habilitation à diriger des recherches à l’université de Provence en 2004. De 2003 à 2010, il a été directeur élu de la section d’anglais du Département des Humanités de l’UVSQ, puis directeur du laboratoire de recherche Cultures, Environnements, Arctique, Représentations, Climat (CEARC) de 2009 à 2015 à l’OVSQ où il a créé en 2010 le Master 2 interdisciplinaire "Arctic Studies", affilié avec l'université Paris-Saclay depuis 2015 et qu’il codirige.<br /> En 2016, il a été nommé Vice-Président délégué UVSQ en charge des Relations internationales (deuxième mandat à partir de 2020). En 2020, il devient Directeur de l'Institut de recherches arctiques Jean Malaurie (IRAM) à l'UVSQ.

Jan Borm a participé à de nombreux projets internationaux dont POLARIS (Cultural and Natural Heritage in Arctic and Sub-Antarctic Regions for a Cross-, Cultural and Sustainable Valorisation Process and Tourism Development: Siberia, Lapland and Patagonia, 2013-2017, FP7-Marie-Curie-IRSES-People; responsable scientifique: Jan Borm) et responsable scientifique UVSQ des projets EDU-ARCTIC (Innovative educational program attracting young people to natural sciences and polar research, 2016-19, Horizon2020-SEAC-2015-1) et ERIS (Exploitation of Research results in School practice, Erasmus+, 2016-2018) et NICH-ARCTIC (Belmont Forum, en cours: http://nicharctic.ca).  Il a co-animé sept ateliers de recherche pour doctorants en coopération avec l’Institut polaire allemand Alfred-Wegener de Bremerhave (AWI) et l’Institut polaire français Paul-Emile Victor de Brest (IPEV) dont six financés par l’université franco-allemande de Sarrebruck.
   En 2019, il a reçu un Doctorat honoris causa de l'université de Laponie à Rovaniemi, Finlande. En 2021, il a été nommé Chevalier dans l'ordre des Palmes académiques.


Jan Borm has been Full Professor in British Literature at UVSQ since 2005. Born in Kiel, Germany, in 1964, he spent the last two years of his secondary education in the United Kingdom, obtaining his A-levels there, before he studied English at the University of Paris VII Denis-Diderot where he defended his PhD thesis on the contemporary British travel book in 1997. In 1998, he was appointed Lecturer (Associate Professor) in British Literature at UVSQ and tenured the year after. In 2004, he defended his Habilitation to Direct Research at the University of Provence. He was elected Head of the English Section at UVSQ from 2003-2010, director of the research center CEARC (Cultures, Environments, Arctic, Representations, Climate) from 2009 until 2015 at UVSQ's Environment Studies Faculty OVSQ where he co-founded UVSQ's interdisciplinary Arctic Studies Master 2 programme 2010 that he is co-director of and which has been affiliated since 2015 with the University of Paris-Saclay that UVSQ is an associate member of.
